Institut Agricole Régional
For years a reference point for agricultural production in Aosta Valley, the Institut Agricole Régional is a private-law foundation which carries out not only vocational education and training in the agricultural field, but also research and experimentation in the agronomical, economic, fruit, wine, zoo-technical and dairy sectors, paying particular attention to sustainability and environmental protection.
Our history…
The Institut Agricole Régional’s deep roots date back to 1951, when the then Regional Council decided to entrust the task of founding and managing the École Pratique d’Agriculture to the Congregation of the Great Saint Bernard Canons.
Research Units
Technical innovation and experimentation are key and distinguishing elements to the research activities of the Institute, whose characterising feature is the conduction of applied research studies and projects; a type of research aimed at being as close as possible to the implementation of its results.
Each Simple Research Unit’s goal is to meet practical demands in the most effective way, proposing innovative technical solutions but, at the same time, paying attention to promoting the strong bond with the local territory that is the main feature of agriculture and the agri-food sector in Aosta Valley.
Production
Experimentation at the Institut Agricole Régional is also conducted through activities such as the production, conservation, transformation and sale of agricultural goods.
Joseph Vaudan winery
Production of white, rosé and red wines from international and local vine varieties. Experimental testing (micro-vinification).
Cattle-shed and dairy-farm
Dairy, meat-based and beehive products. Experimental testing (food processing technology and beef chain).
Fruit and vegetable garden
Fruit and vegetable production. Experimental testing (cultivation of new varieties and species, testing of new growing techniques, recovery and characterisation of local ecotypes).
