Before even having an economic function, production and transformation processes at Institut Agricole Régional are meant to support research, experimentation, educational and training activities.
The managed agricultural area consists of 36 hectares of meadows – distributed in the two units of Montfleury (Aosta) and Château Verdun (Saint Oyen) –, 7.5 hectares of vineyards (in Aosta’s surroundings, in the localities of Moncenis, Cossan and Hospice, and in Charvensod, in the locality of Ampaillan), 2.5 hectares of orchards and approximately 4000 square metres of vegetable garden. In our cattle-shed 110 total livestock are bred, of which around 50 native breed dairy cows, while the remaining are heifers, young heifers, bullocks and calves. Our transformation plants include an experimental winery, two experimental dairies and three cheese storage warehouses.

Wine production
The winery now in use started operating during the 2005 grape harvest, substituting the previous cave experimentale wanted by Canon J. Vaudan for educational, training and viticultural orientation, to encourage the production of high-quality, typical and genuine wines.

Animal Products
Research and experimental work on livestock production systems of dairy and meat animals, the welfare of native breeds and animal products are carried out at the Montfleury farm.

Fruit and vegetable production
The Montfleury farm includes a vegetable garden and an experimental orchard…
